Scott Ricardo
Due to Covid, in March of 2020, Scott decided to recreate Summer Institutes through a virtual platform. What emerged was the creation of a National RECHARGE Conference, a Midwest Regional virtual site, and several one-day conferences with multiple 5-Star presenters all available to anyone, in any time zone, in any location using Zoom. All of these sessions are now available on-demand for teachers to continue earning graduate-level credits from the comfort of their homes. To date, over 26,000 teachers have become a part of what Scott calls his “SI Family.”
While running his company, Scott also worked for 21 years as a University Teacher/ Coach/Fundraiser at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, University of California, Berkeley, Washington State University, Central Washington University and Humboldt State University. At Humboldt State, he founded and directed the “We Believe in Youth” Mentorship Program for At-Hope Youth. This successful program gained national attention. Scott was a featured as a guest speaker on the nationally televised, Children’s Miracle Network Show. He also was awarded the Humboldt County Community Service Award for his efforts with At-Hope Youth. The program started with five college student athletes mentoring 20 local At-Hope Youth. Within four years the program grew to 20 mentors serving over a hundred youth.
For 10 years, Scott worked as a teacher at Hughson High School in Hughson, CA. The last three years, he was selected by the graduating senior class as the winner of the annual award for “Teacher of Distinction”.
Scott worked as the athletic director for Port Townsend High School (PTHS) for two years. During his time there, he developed a theme called “TEAM Port Townsend”. Scott promoted that everyone in the close-knit community of Port Townsend should share in the common goal to help Port Townsend’s youth succeed by providing a first-class experience for all students. As a result of Scott’s dedication and hard work, the school’s athletic teams improved both on and off the field, attendance increased, and the community donated over $60,000 to help improve the PTHS athletic program.
In 2014 Scott returned to coaching by joining the Uppsala 86ers staff in the European American Professional Football League and consulted with the Swedish Sports Federation.
After Europe, he returned to K-12 teaching in Santa Fe, NM, Santa Cruz, and Lompoc, CA. Coach Ricardo recently accepted a consulting position for the European American Professional Football Team, the Catalan Grizzlies in the South of France. His responsibilities include coaching the Division I Professional Team, D2 and youth flag football teams.
