Dr. Chad MaberyManhattan Beach, CA Site Coordinator
Dr. Chad Mabery came to California 1999 after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in mathematics and minor in economics. He spent his first eight years in California as a mathematics, science, and physical education teacher, youth camp director, middle and high school coach and athletics director. He went on to be a middle and high school administrator in Torrance Unified School District for eight years. During this time, Dr. Mabery earned a master’s degree in Education Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a doctorate degree in Education Leadership from University of California, Los Angeles.
Currently, Chad is the K-12 Director of Data, Assessment, and Professional Development for Manhattan Beach USD.
Dr. Mabery is a recognized for his innovation and leadership in instructional and learning. Association of California School Administrators named him a Secondary Principal of the Year. The College Board selected Dr. Mabery to join the Chinese Bridge Delegation to further develop school partnerships between schools in the United States and China. He created one of the first blended online courses at the middle school level over five years ago.
Dr. Mabery has been a presenter for school districts, universities, and state conferences. His presentation topics have included topics such as integrating technology into the classrooms, English learners, GATE strategies, Common Core, NGSS, C3 Framework, RQI, questioning strategy, iPads, literacy, grading practices, PLCs, RTI, college-going culture, school climate, SMART goals, and school leadership.
Dr. Mabery is also the Board President of the Torrance Education Foundation (TEF). This foundation fundraises nearly $500,000 each year to further support Torrance USD students. Within the TEF, Dr. Mabery created the STEM Initiative grant program that provides funds to support robotics, engineering, coding, family nights, and math/science competitions. The STEM Initiative program reaches over 8000 students and parents.
